Planning The Interview
Duration: 3 hour virtual session
Skill Level: Introduction/Intermediate
Many managers are being tasked with assessing employees for new opportunities in the organization or for hiring external candidates to meet organizational staffing needs. Unfortunately, managers may not have training or experience with how to hire the best candidate for the job. This can cost the organization a lot of money in lost time and revenue.
This session is designed to help front-line managers plan an effective hiring process with a variety of assessment methods and to write effective behavioural-based interview questions to hire the most qualified candidate for the job. Recommended Prerequisite Training - Planning The Competition And Screening Applications By the end of this session, you will know the steps to plan an effective hiring process, from determining assessment methods to performing background and reference checks. The first step will be to determine what assessment methods, including the interview, you want to incorporate into the competition. For the interview itself, you will learn about the many different formats, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. When planning the interview questions, you will learn about what you can legally ask a candidate and what areas to avoid. You will also learn about the importance of putting the candidate at ease, so they are comfortable to openly share their experience, skills and aspirations related to the role. Finally, you will learn recruiting best practices, so your hiring practices are fair to all candidates.
